How deactivate works: flipping a link off doesn't delete it — it flags the slug in a manifest, and an edge redirect serves a branded “this link has expired” page instead of the deliverable. Flip it back on and it's live again at the same URL. Client-facing links can carry an auto-expiry date so they never stay open forever.
